Janis Karpinski Speaks Again, Reveals Much More
In the odd case that you haven't already heard about the latest from the former Army Reserve Brigadier General in charge of Abu Ghraib prison, here's a link to Karpinski's interview with truthout.org contributing editor (and law professor) Marjorie Cohn. It's a tale of money, power, and corporate contractors. And, of course, a coverup. What else did you expect from this secretive administration?
Recall that Karpinski was the one that took the proverbial "administrative fall" for the prison abuse scandal; she was demoted to Colonel and was "retired." Pvt. Lyndie England, et al. absorbed the shelling on behalf of the abusers; they're incarcerated.
I had been hesitant to speak out before because this Administration is so vindictive. But now I will ... Anybody who confronts this Administration or Rumsfeld or the Pentagon with a true assessment, they find themselves either out of a job, out of their positions, fired, relieved or chastised. Their career comes to an end. -- Janis Karpinski, interview with Marjorie Cohn, August 3, 2005
